Heart & Soul of NYC

Gotta just give Pete Rock credit for how perfect this is, smoky twilight NYC history vibrating in the acrid air. Has that same wistfulness as the “Out for the Cash” single version as heard here, such a great example of rappers remaining in character w/ detached cool, but the song retains nuanced, soft-focus melancholy by balancing that reserve with a strong musical emotional pull.
